About our prices
Our prices are set as competitively as possible, determined by several different factors:
- Almost everyone on our staff, especially those who have direct patient contact, must speak fluent English. We must pay higher salaries to doctors, nurses, lab technicians and others who speak English as well as those who are native Italian.
- We are a private clinic, as such we receive absolutely no funding or special treatment from the government regarding tax breaks. In fact Italy has one of the highest VAT rates in the EU.
- Our clinic provides documentation in English and is coded for most major international insurance policies. We ‘direct bill’ to over 30 different international insurance companies (should be arranged in advance – please contact us). Thus, our prices are geared for those people who have international insurance. None of these insurers have a problem with our prices.
- Due to significant price disparities between different regions of Italy in terms of rent, salaries, materials, and services, some prices may differ between our clinics.

In the case of a refund request for prepaid services, refunds are generally not available when a scheduled service cannot be completed due to reasons unrelated to FirstMed, including when a patient changes their mind or decides not to proceed with a booked service. If a patient wishes to cancel or modify a prepaid appointment or service, FirstMed must be notified at least 48 hours in advance. Requests made after this period may not be eligible for a refund.
If FirstMed is unable to provide the prepaid service, or if a cancellation or change is necessary due to an issue on FirstMed’s side, the appropriate refund will be processed using the original method of payment whenever possible.
